To date, there are over 400 credit unions registered in Ukraine, with many grassroots model credit unions receiving technical support from Canadian and United States assistance programs. There have been many successful credit union twinnings between credit unions in the United States and Canada, and those in Ukraine. The Credit Union Movement in the United States and Canada has contributed over $1 million dollars of their own funds to support the emerging credit union movement in Ukraine. As we support Ukraine's endeavor to strive for economic self sufficiency, we will be helping our own economy by establishing better trading partners, creating business opportunities and facilitating trust for western companies.

Our joint efforts must now be strengthened so that the newly planted credit unions seed in Ukraine will grow and flourish. Your support of this endeavor can only strengthen the democratic ties among the United States, Canada, and Ukraine.
